Bruce
Emerson Decoys came to life in the year 2000. I currently work full time as a police officer for the Town of Stowe,
Vt. In 1998 I was injured and it took two years to get back to work full time. During that time I met my mentor
Chris Murray, who lived in Stowe, Vt. Chris took me under his wing so to speak and got me started, thus began my love
of carving. It was while working with Chris that I first experienced the Ward World Championships. Chris encouraged
me to carve and assisted me along the way in developing my skills. All too soon, Chris packed up and headed for warmer
climates and golf courses open year round, but I have continued carving, striving to learn new skills and sharpen those I
learned. Thank you Chris!
I am a member of the Ward
Museum of Wildfowl Art. ( See link )

Working
a full time job and having a family complete with 5 kids, a dog, and my beautiful wife; my carving time is limited. I
enjoy spending time outdoors especially through the "warmer" months. This is why the weather link on the Home
page asks "Is it carving weather". I enjoy hunting, fishing, golfing and taking rides on my motorcycle when
I can. I enjoy camping and spending time at camp with my family. My carving time is mostly limited to the winter
months while it is blustery and cold outside and I am not riding the lawnmower or my bike! I spend the winter in my
shop working on projects until spring arrives with all the work and projects to be done around the house. It is my goal
to retire around 2017 and be able to concentrate more time on my carvings and travelling to more shows. For now, I am
fortunate enough to have a number of projects waiting in the wings keeping me busy.
